That's not terribly unusual, there's always some seismic activity happening.
We're sitting on a fairly significant fault line, and I believe Virginia has half a dozen of them overall.

I tell people everyday that earthquakes are natural phenomena. It's the moving plates.

I live in Pulaski County and didn't know there was a quake until I read about it in the Roanoke paper the next day. If I'm correct, there was a very large earthquake nearby in Giles County in the late 1800s.
